Things change so quickly

Things are not exactly terrific at the moment. In fact, they are not even close. My grandmother had a stroke a couple of days ago. She is now in the hospital and we went to see her today. To be honest, things could have been a lot worse than they are. She is able to talk, if not with the same energy, and she is able to walk if somebody helps her to get up and use a walker. But still, it was so painful for me to see her struggling with the simplest things; like reaching for a glass of water. Also, her body hurts in several places and it was extremely hard to see somebody you care so much about in such pain.

I haven’t done much but crying and worrying since it happened. We were together the day before the stroke. We walked the dog together, had coffee and talked. My grandmother is not only a ”grandmother” to me. She is also my godmother and one of my dearest friends ever to walk on this earth. She lives very close to my parents house and she has always been there for me. She has been there when I have not had anyone else to talk to. She has always been caring and creative. Even to this day she is a very good role model for me. She never gives up. We may not always think alike, but we do a lot of things in similar ways. When I was younger barely a single day went by that I didn’t see her. When my mother started working, my grandmother took care of me. After I started school I always came to her in the afternoons and she helped me do my homework and made me different snacks or dinner until my mom called and said that she was home. Even when I lived in the states we spoke on the phone a couple of times a week and sent many letters back and forth. I am lucky to have had such a wonderful grandmother play such a significant part of my life. Please don’t take her away from me. I still need her. And I hope she needs me.

You know that I – as usual – understands you more than most. It’s such a hard situation, I’ve lived with it for many years. After a while I found myself going numb, ’cause you can’t spend every single moment worrying about it. It’s also a sad thing, and I know that I appear to be harsch on my granny, but I love her very much, and I hope I’ll never forget that. You’re more in touch with your feelings, I think that’s better. It’s just so hard to deal with, but we’re hoping for the best, right?
Hang in there sweetheart. You’re always on my mind.

Önskar er all lycka. Kram

I’m so sorry to hear this Jenny. You know our thoughts are with you, and, let’s hope
you get better news very soon. Much Love, Mark
